While we were sitting at the seder table Monday night, Comedy Central's Stephen Colbert Report took a swipe at the growing commercialization of Passover by enacting a skit using the Ten Plagues Finger Puppets set now being sold in Judaica stores, supermarkets, and Bed Bath and Beyond.
In his words, "all the gruesome punishments visited on the Jews' Egyptian oppressors are now at your fingertips."
Making the point that Jews are finally catching up with Christians commercializing Christmas, he enacts a skit featuring the Blood and Boils puppets planning an attack on the Egyptians, but the Dead Firstborn Child puppet has other ideas.
