Warren Schein, a talented comedian and singer, has produced a one-man show, "From The Borscht Belt To Broadway". This show combines an upbeat and wide selection from the Great American Songbook, along with favorite standards, Broadway musical favorites, and a fitting tribute to entertainer extraodinaire, Al Jolson. Added to this musical retrospective is a shtikl of some of the greatest comedy rountines from the heyday of the Catskill hotel circuit.
Here's a sample of Schein's Catskill shtick. It's one of the best examples we've seen of old-time joke exposition, on a par with the big names in the Borscht Belt.
For a look at one of Schein's musical performances, we'll also share some excerpts from his tribute to Mel Torme, one of the great pop/jazz singers of the second half of the 20th century. Enjoy!
