Hava Nagila - But With a Completely New Melody
We have heard and posted many versions of Hava Nagila from all around the world, but what they all had in common was the melody, which didn't vary whether it was sung in a burlesque hall in Thailand, a Bollywood movie in Bombay, or by a busking team in the streets of Italy.
Today we found a new version of Hava Nagila, sung to an entirely new melody. The singer is Noah Solomon Chase, a lead singer and guitarist from the band Soulfarm that he founded with C. Lanzbom in 1991.
We've liked their music, a mix of Jewish/Middle Eastern, rock, bluegrass, and Celtic influence. We plan to profile Soulfarm in a separate blog post soon.
This new melody for Hava Nagila was composed by Cecelia Margules and Rami Yadid.
Enjoy!
