A Joke to Start the Week - "Long Island Duck"
It's time for another joke to start the week, a week that includes the Sukkot holiday starting Wednesday evening.
We hope you'll have lots of festive meals in your sukkah or in sukkot of your family, friends, and neighbors. One of them may include a Long Island duck, which happens to be the subject of today's joke.
Like all Jewish jokes, it's old, as are the joke tellers. Today's jokester is Ronnie Haber, a 66-year-old retiree from a career in textile sales. The joke, like most of our Monday jokes, is from the website collection of Old Jews Telling Jokes.
This week the off-Broadway version that ran in New York for two years is opening on stage in the Penn's Landing Playhouse in Philadelphia for a seven week run.
Here's the setup for the joke: There's an old Jewish lady, and she goes to the butcher. She says "Butcher, I vant a Long Island duck." He looks at her, he's new there, he puts it on the scale, and then...
