Jewish Humor Central is a daily publication to start your day with news of the Jewish world that's likely to produce a knowing smile and some Yiddishe nachas. It's also a collection of sources of Jewish humor--anything that brings a grin, chuckle, laugh, guffaw, or just a warm feeling to readers. Our posts include jokes, satire, books, music, films, videos, food, Unbelievable But True, and In the News. Some are new, and some are classics. We post every morning, Sunday through Friday. Enjoy!
Love it. So touching and moving. Shabbat Shalom to everyone.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Aviva! As I made it (for a Limmud session about Debbie and Shlomo Carlebach) I realized that her Havdalah is hardly different than the "official" Maoz Tzur and Shalom Aleichem. There are lots of ways to sing either one, but there's also a default version that people consider normative and that they're avoiding when they do something else. The amazing part is that THIS one (compared to other standard tunes) is no more than a quarter-century old!
DeleteHere's my Shlomo Carlebach "Am Yisrael Chai" round-up, in which I did the same thing, for those who want to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bx4Vs4fLTs&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR0urr8UoD-ovgV72WYmkSzSSGY5z2-rDT7-TRkPxW7l7foWOq-wmg3kV1M
DeleteI've had positive responses over the weekend, so I decided to post the improved version I made for Limmud Mallorca. There are more clips, better editing, and the last third where Debbie sings it herself is much more interesting to watch.
