The New Jewish Comedians: Meet Rich Aronovitch, Standup Comic

We've been posting clips of Jewish comedians going back to the days of vaudeville and burlesque, from Jack Benny to Alan King, and including dozens more. We've posted many of them since we started Jewish Humor Central nine years ago.

Last winter we gave a lecture at Florida Atlantic University on these old timers. And on February 10 we'll be doing a follow-up lecture on 15 more great Jewish comedians.

But a new generation of Jewish comedians is on the rise. And they're very funny. It's a rare one who can get through a routine without off-color words or phrases, but some are trying very hard to let the jokes and situations carry the day without resorting to outright foul language.

Some of the new comedians are only new to us, since we haven't been watching all the late night TV shows and comedy specials where they make their first appearances. But as we discover them, we'll share some of their video clips with you.
Today we're sharing a video clip by Rich Aronovitch, who tells comedy club audiences about growing up Jewish in New Orleans. Rich has been making the rounds of comedy clubs around the USA. This year he will be performing on cruise ships and in comedy clubs. He has a scheduled appearance in March at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center in Aventura, Florida.

Enjoy!

A SPECIAL NOTE FOR NEW EMAIL SUBSCRIBERS:  THE VIDEO MAY NOT BE VIEWABLE DIRECTLY FROM THE EMAIL THAT YOU GET EACH DAY ON SOME COMPUTERS AND TABLETS.  YOU MUST CLICK ON THE TITLE AT THE TOP OF THE EMAIL TO REACH THE JEWISH HUMOR CENTRAL WEBSITE, FROM WHICH YOU CLICK ON THE PLAY BUTTON IN THE VIDEO IMAGE TO START THE VIDEO.
