Comedian Bernie Berns Becomes a Bar Mitzvah at Age 90

Comedian Bernie Berns waited 90 years for his Bar Mitzvah celebration, and thanks to a much younger comedian, Rabbi Mike Fine, Berns was called to the Tojrah in Congregation Ohav Shalom on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Bernie Berns, born Bernard Horowitz in Brooklyn in 1928, finally got to recite the Torah blessings two years ago.

Sometimes called King of the Catskills and The Jewish Mickey Rooney, Berns appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, and worked at the Copacabana, Grossinger's, and the Deauville Hotel with Bobby Vinton, Diana Ross, Al Martino, and Billy Eckstein.
