Today we welcome Shabbat with a performance of Yigdal by The Atlanta Jewish Girls Choir. These words come from the tefilla (prayer) 'Yigdal' which speaks about the greatness of Hashem (G-d).
In this video, the girls sing while observing nature and beautiful scenery, which lets them ponder Hashem's greatness.
Enjoy, and Shabbat shalom!

Candid
Camera
was an American hidden camera/practical joke reality television series
created and produced by Allen Funt, which initially began on radio as
The Candid Microphone on June 28, 1947.
After a series of theatrical
film shorts, also titled Candid Microphone,
Funt's concept came to television on August 10, 1948, and continued
into the 1970s. The show involved concealing cameras filming ordinary people being
confronted with unusual situations, sometimes involving trick props,
such as a desk with drawers that pop open when one is closed or a car
with a hidden extra gas tank. When the joke was revealed, victims would
be told the show's catchphrase, "Smile, you're on Candid Camera."
Peter
Funt joined the show professionally in 1987 when he became a co-host
with
his father. During this time the show was being broadcast on the CBS
television network. In 1993, Allen Funt had a serious stroke, from which
he never fully recovered. This required Peter to host the show
full-time.
The
show went through a few revivals. During his time on the show Peter was
a producer, host and acted on the show. He also produced and hosted
over 200 episodes.
In
this classic episode a Candid Camera staffer asks strangers to change her tire while her lazy husband naps in the back seat.

Orny Adams (Adam Jason Orenstein) delivers a powerful, incisive stand-up comedy routine that
vacillates between the relevant and the absurd. Orny attacks what’s
wrong with the world and sometimes even what’s wrong with Orny. He’s
brutally honest, satirical and his performance is ceaselessly
energetic.
We first ran into Orny Adams at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal five years ago. We previously posted clips of Orny in one of his
Showtime specials. Orny has been performing on late night TV shows
and other comedy venues, and he's a regular at the Just for Laughs Festival.
Orny
has had one hour stand up specials on Netflix, Comedy Central and his
third special More Than Loud aired on Showtime. Orny has
appeared all over television, most notably on The Tonight Show, Late
Night with David Letterman and The Conan O’Brien Show. And you might
also recognize him as Coach from the TV show Teen Wolf which ran for six
seasons.
In
this clip, Orny laces into old folks usage of high tech devices like TVs with lots of settings and smart refrigerators with screens that show you what's inside and send you texts when you are about to run out of various foods.
Enjoy!

Which came first.....latkes or sufganiyot? CBS Sunday Morning reported on the origins of these Chanukah treats last week.
The annual "Festival of Lights" is marked by traditions, but a more recent tradition is the consumption of filled or topped doughnuts, or "sufganiyot." At Adir Michaeli's New York City bakery, correspondent Serena Altschul finds out how they're mixing things up for the holiday, creating sweet, sugary delights.
We light the 8th candle tonight, so enjoy these treats while you can.
On Tuesday evening, Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli and Hasidic singer Shulem Lemmer sang a duet at the United Hatzalah Gala Hanukkah concert in Miami.
Shulem was invited by Bocelli and was introduced as the first Hasidic singer ever to be signed by a major recording label. The song was Fall on Me, in Italian and English, from Bocelli's 2018 album, Sì.
As Raphael Poch wrote on the United Hatzalah website,
On Tuesday evening, $13 million were raised by the Miami community at Friends of United Hatzalah’s gala, which took place at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort.
The event was headlined by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli who gaae a
special performance that wowed the crowd, with Bocelli and his wife
Veronica honored for their commitment to lifesaving.

Gad Elbaz already achieved international success by the age of
26 with three number one hit songs, Halayla Zeh Hazman, Or and Al Neharot Bavel. All of his CD's have
climbed high on the charts and sold over 100,000 copies in Israel alone.
Gad began to sing
and write music at age four. He first appeared with his father Benny Elbaz, a
popular Israeli singer, accompanying him on the hit song Father I Love
You. Gad's music intentionally
captures both the observant and secular listener by mixing original and
biblical texts with ballads, harmonies, middle-eastern rhythms and modern pop.
Many of the songs are a collaboration between him and his wife Moran, where he
composes the music and she writes the lyrics.
In this video, Gad sings a new version of O Chanukah. Enjoy!
Shir Soul is a wedding band and a cappella singing group founded in 2005 by David Ross.
With
their eclectic mix of Jewish rock, pop, and soul music, Shir Soul has
recorded a few albums and plays at weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, and other
occasions with musical instruments or a cappella. In previous years we've posted some of their Chanukah mashups, including a collection of songs by Elvis Presley. This year they created a funky version of the candle lighting blessings.
Singing all the voice parts from Bass to Tenor and even the Lead vocal and Beat-box, David Ross travels seamlessly through 11 completely different genres of music in just 90 seconds to create a uniquely "funky" arrangement like nothing else you've ever seen or heard!
And if you're not already familiar with the candle-lighting blessings for Chanukah, you can definitely use this video as a great way to learn the classic tune with your family and friends and have fun as you learn!
Follow the timing below to listen to each and every genre individually, and sing the candle-lighting blessings along with us as you light your menorah this Chanukah!

The Boys Town Jerusalem choir has a new Hanukkah video. Ner Li, a popular Chanukah song written by Levin Kipnis, speaks about how the candles spread light. In the music video, the choir boys spread light in small ways.
Boys Town Jerusalem is one of Israel's premier institutions for
educating the country's next generation of leaders in the fields of
technology, commerce, education, the military and public service.
Since
its founding in 1948, BTJ has pursued its mission of turning young boys
from limited backgrounds into young men with limitless futures. From
Junior High through the College level, the three part curriculum at Boys
Town - academic, technological and Torah - is designed to turn
otherwise disadvantaged Israeli youth into productive citizens of
tomorrow.
Boys Town’s 18 acre campus is a home away from home for its
more than 950 students. More than 7,500 graduates hold key positions
throughout Israeli society. For Chanukah 2022, the Boys Town Jerusalem choir performs Ner Li.
Enjoy! Chag Chanukah Sameach!

Last Friday King Charles III visited the JW3 Community Center in North London to learn about its work as the Jewish community prepared to start celebrating Chanukah this weekend. During the pre-Chanukah reception for Holocaust survivors, the King danced with Anne Frank's step-sister to L'Chaim and Oseh Shalom Bimromav.
The King was greeted by Roxane Zand, the Deputy Lieutenant for
Camden, and was shown various activities in the centre by Raymond
Simonson, its chief executive.
He heard from young people taking part in the programmes offered by JW3,
including telling asylum seekers baking for food bank deliveries: “It’s
so wonderful all the things you get up to.”
One of the Holocaust survivors, 95-year-old Helen Aronson, said:
“Today I had two kisses on both cheeks! I told him I’m not washing my
face.
“It’s extra special for a King to take time and come to the Jewish
community and speak to everyone and shake hands with everyone, it’s
amazing really. I won’t forget this until the day I die, an experience
like that, to be kissed by the King.”
NOTE: We know that today is Monday and we usually post a joke to start the week each Monday. But this week we are celebrating the eight days of Chanukah and so we are posting only holiday-related items. But we'll be back next Monday with another joke.

We've been posting versions of Hebrew liturgical and popular songs by Yonina (Yoni and Nina Tokayer, a married musical duo who live in the small town of Pardes Chana, Israel.)
They have been uploading home videos to Facebook and YouTube and reaching millions.
They have both been singing and writing since they can remember, and have been making music together ever since they met. The name Yonina is a combination of both their first names, Yoni and Nina.
Here they are singingthe first verses of Anim Zemirot, a liturgical poem that is sung toward the end of the Musaf service in most congregations on Shabbat. The melody is a Chabad nigun, and Yonina recorded this version in honor of Yat Kislev, the 19th day of Kislev, a Chabad holiday celebrated as the Rosh Hashanah of Chassidism. It was on this date, in the year 1798, that the founder of Chabad Chassidism, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi (1745–1812), was freed from his imprisonment in czarist Russia.
I will chant hymns and weave songs,
for my soul pants after thee.
My soul longs to be in the shadow of thy hand,
to gain the knowledge of every secret of thy mysteries.
Enjoy, and Shabbat shalom!

Jewish Humor Central made its first appearance on the Internet on Sunday, October 4, 2009. In the following 13+ years we have posted video clips to fulfill the mission that we established at the beginning -- an objective that has appeared as the header on our home page ever since.
We posted Jewish humor items in the following categories: Jokes,
stories, parodies, satire, legends, books, films, Unbelievable But True,
and In the News. Some were new, and some were classics.
Occasionally some were not really funny, but thought-provoking.We
included our own comments, but generally relied on the links to tell their
own story.
We
included items from religious and secular sources of all
Jewish denominations, and we tried to keep the site family-friendly.
Any perceived slight to any group or subgroup has been unintentional, and we trusted that people without a sense of humor would not be
offended by anything we posted or linked to.
So for today's 4,000th post, we are looking back over the years and repeating the five most viewed posts since Jewish Humor Central began. We hope you enjoy seeing them again and understand why they have been so popular.
#1 - Barbra Streisand Performs Avinu Malkeinu at Shimon Peres' 90th Birthday Celebration in Jerusalem.
Thanks to all of our subscribers and casual readers for your feedback, encouragement, and loyalty through the years. We look forward to more postings to keep you smiling always. We'll be back with more posts tomorrow starting with our weekly Welcoming Shabbat video.

It's
Monday again, and time for another Joke to Start the Week. Today we're
sharing one of the classic jokes told by William Novak, co-author with
Moshe Waldoks of The Big Book of Jewish Humor.
Last month, on Election Day, Novak retold the joke, along with many others,
in an hour-long webinar sponsored by Moment Magazine called Election Day 2022: Jewish Jokes Edition. The session was recorded and includes many more jokes, which we will share with you in the coming weeks.
Here's
the setup for today's joke: A Jew converts and studies to become a priest. He clearly has some talent, and when the times comes he celebrates his first mass in front of a select audience. And then...

Last Sunday night, A Beautiful Noise, the musical biography of Neil Diamond opened at the Broadhurst Theatre on Broadway. Diamond gave the audience a special treat by singing his hit song Sweet Caroline from his box seat after the cast took a bow.
Neil Diamond made theatergoers at opening night of Broadway's A Beautiful Noise, The Neil Diamond Musical feel so good, so good!
The New York native surprised fans and audience members at the Broadhurst Theatre — where the new musical about his life opened Sunday night — with an impromptu performance of his hit song "Sweet Caroline."
It marks the first time Diamond, 81, has performed in his hometown since
2017 and was a rare appearance for the music icon, who announced in
2018 that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and would be retiring from concert touring.
